We love the fact that Tshirts offer the opportunity to express an opinion, but most of the ones we found in stores and online were made in China, they were mass produced, and they were either boring or crass (or both). We started looking at designer shirts here in Los Angeles (the kind people wear to dinner with $250 jeans and $350 shoes), but the only statement those seemed to offer was, "I paid way too much for this Tshirt". We wanted something "smart" to wear--both smart in meaning AND smart in style. If for no other reason than to create shirts for ourselves, we created Current Citizen, a brand focused on high-end casual apparel with a smart, satirical message. By agreeing to produce very limited editions of each design, we are able to attract some of the world's leading comedic writers, artists and designers to develop our designs. These contributors participate in a monthly process to design powerful, humorous and touching artwear. We have also partnered with American Apparel to source all of our raw product. This allows us to be certain each and every shirt is 100% American Made.
